Aanvi Kamdar lost her life after falling into 300-foot gorge

Aanvi Kamdar, 27, travel influencer from Mumbai, tragically passed away after accidentally falling into a gorge while filming an Instagram Reel at Kumbhe waterfall in Maharashtra.

She was known for sharing her adventures on Instagram under the username @theglocaljournal. Kamdar was with a group of seven friends when the incident occurred on July 16.

Kamdar had a scary fall while filming a video and ended up in a deep gorge. Thankfully, her friends quickly notified local authorities who sprang into action. The Coast Guard, Kolad rescue team, and Maharashtra State Electricity Board staff all joined in the efforts to rescue her.

Once the rescuers arrived at the scene, they discovered that the girl had fallen a significant distance. Despite their efforts to reach her, the difficult conditions made it challenging to bring her to safety.

Therefore, they opted to use a vertical pulley system to extract her from the dangerous situation. Additionally, ongoing obstacles such as falling rocks added another layer of complexity to the rescue mission.

She passed away at the hospital where she was being treated. The police station official from Mangaon stated that tourists should take extra precautions when visiting waterfalls during the rainy season to avoid accidents like this.

Kamdar was rescued from the gorge after a long operation, but unfortunately, she didn't make it due to the severity of her injuries. Ms. Kamdar, known as Theglocaljournal on Instagram, started her career as a Chartered Accountant before transitioning into a travel influencer.

With over two lakh followers, she creates content focused on luxury finds, cafes, itineraries, tips, and vibes. Her posts and reels often showcase travel budgets and tourism in various regions of India.
